Kyla Goksoy is a Turkish- American, Florida- born photographer and visual storyteller based in Istanbul, who has photographed various places around the world.
She is currently double majoring in photography and honors psychology and minoring in digital marketing at the University of Notre Dame. Since the age of twelve, camera has been her coping device, the shutter a boundary she can create between herself and the world. Her camera has been a microscope, the lens a way to focus—literally—on the tiniest details.
In 2018, “Light in the Darkest of Times” was first exhibited in Ozyegin University in Istanbul. In 2020, this piece was published in Harvard Technology Review. In 2021, it was featured in Dallas Photography Center’s Catalog and was also exhibited in Dallas Photography Center’s gallery in Texas. In 2023, this photograph was selected as the cover of the Re: Visions 20th Edition issue of Juggler Magazine, which also featured other selected works by Goksoy. This piece received Honorable Mentions at the Monochrome Theme Art Competition and the Street category of the Monochrome Awards Photo Contest. It was exhibited at the Blue Koi Gallery and was selected for the 2nd B&W Athens Photography Festival. This photograph won the Photography Annual 65, which will be published in July/August 2024 issue of Communication Arts Magazine. L'Amore won Honorable Mention at the Annual Photography Awards in People: Street Life category.
She is currently working on her new black and white projects.
